Can I appeal a Fair Deal decision?

Yes — you have 40 working days from the date of a decision to appeal to the HSE National Appeals Service, in writing by email or post.

You can appeal the care needs result, a refusal to consider State Support, a refusal to carry out the financial assessment, the State Support result, the loan result, or a review result.

Include your contact details and PPSN, the 6-digit reference from your decision letter, your grounds, and any supporting documents. The appeals helpline runs Mon–Fri, 9.30–13.00.

Beyond the appeal, a point of law can go to the High Court, and the Ombudsman is also available.
